terms

Effective October 24, 2026

1. the basics

watabish is a small, mostly-for-fun project run by Aya and Grace in Ontario, Canada. By using watabish.com, booking a portrait or playing the Watabish game, you agree to these terms and our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use them.

2. pet portraits

What you get. A hand-painted 8×10 inch acrylic portrait of your pet on canvas. The bish-signed edition also includes a Watabish paw print signature. Because every portrait is painted by hand, colours, brushstrokes and details will differ from photos and from other portraits.

Price and payment. Prices are in Canadian dollars as shown on the site when you book, and are paid in full at booking through our Cal.com booking page, processed securely by Stripe. Your slot is confirmed once payment goes through. Bookings that are still unpaid after 48 hours are cancelled and the slot is released. Tips are optional and non-refundable.

Your photo. Please send a clear, well-lit photo of your pet's face. By sending it, you confirm you took it or have permission to share it. If the photo isn't usable, we'll ask for another one.

Timing. The date you book is your pick-up date, at least one week away so there's time to paint. Please send a usable photo within 48 hours of booking. If the photo arrives late or anything else changes, we'll let you know and agree on a new pick-up date.

Hand-off. There's no shipping. We meet in person at an agreed public spot (usually a very nice tree) to hand over your portrait. If you miss the hand-off, we'll reschedule. If we can't arrange a hand-off within 60 days of the portrait being ready, we'll treat the order as complete.

Cancellations and refunds. Cancel before we start painting and you'll get a full refund. Once painting has started, we can't offer a refund. If something's off, tell us at the hand-off and we'll fix anything reasonable. If we can't complete your portrait for any reason, you'll get a full refund.

Ownership and sharing. You own the physical portrait. We keep the copyright in the artwork, which means you can hang it, gift it and post photos of it, but not sell prints or merchandise of it. We'll only post your pet's portrait publicly if you say yes.

3. the Watabish game

• The game is free and just for fun. Tokens, treats, toys and hearts have no cash value and can't be bought, sold or exchanged.
• Your progress saves on your device. If you sign in (optional, 13+), it also saves to your account.
• We may change, reset or retire the game at any time.
• Watabish's "advice" and "wisdom" are jokes written for a cartoon cat. They are not medical, legal, financial or any other kind of professional advice. If you're going through something serious, please talk to a real person.
• Please don't try to break, hack or overload the game, or use someone else's account.

4. our stuff

The watabish name, the Watabish character and doodles, the website design, the game and our photos belong to us. Please don't copy or reuse them without asking. (Sharing screenshots and tagging @watabish_ is always welcome.)

5. no guarantees

We work hard to keep the site and game running, but we provide them "as is." To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect losses, and our total responsibility for any claim is limited to what you paid us for the order involved. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Ontario consumer protection law.

6. changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Orders are covered by the terms in place when you booked.

7. law and contact
